Winston overwatch tips1/27/2024 The ability to mentally inhabit the 3D space your character occupies in a video game while also intuitively keeping track of the virtual environment around your character (player positions, enemy line of sight, cover, and everything that is NOT on your screen) is crucial component to playing Winston properly, and is the difference between a Winston that gets quickly eviscerated and a Winston that is literally uncatchable. Winston is a tank that rewards very specific, innate traits in first-person shooter players, and players that have these traits will find that their ability to get the most out of Winston will far surpass the average Overwatch player, and may find themselves chosen to walk the path of monkey. Some heroes require more of one of these traits and less of another, and while Winston is famously known for being mechanically lenient but demanding on game sense and positioning, there is more to the equation than just recommending Winston to players that can’t aim. Winston is honestly not for everyone and the difference between an average Winston and a master Winston comes down to a few key traits you must possess as an Overwatch player.Īll heroes in Overwatch require game-sense, positioning, and mechanical skill to be played effectively. Only a few players are committed enough to becoming true Winston mains, but those that are, find this hero transforms from a vanilla dive tank / counter pick choice to a Swiss Army Knife of a hero that can sow virtually unlimited chaos and destruction in the enemy ranks while providing invaluable utility and peel to your own team. In the right hands, however, Winston is a terrifying menace that will reward dedicated players with endless possibilities for jaw-dropping playmaking and the ability to drive the enemy team out of their minds as your game sense, positioning, and decision-making skills grow along with your mastery of the monkey. Winston is a 400 pound blue electric space gorilla that, in the wrong hands, will absolutely be the most embarrassing thing to witness in a game of Overwatch. “The more you play monkey, the more you become monkey.”

High scope preschool daily schedule1/27/2024 A High/Scope daily routine incorporates a plan-do-review process which enables the children to express their intentions, carry them out, and reflect on what they have done. These areas contain a wide and plentiful assortment of easily assessable materials children can choose and use to carry out their intentions and ideas for play.Ī consistent daily routine that supports active learning enables children to anticipate what happens next and gives them a great deal of control over what they do during each part of their day. Play spaces are divided into specific interest areas to support children’s abiding interest in such areas as sensory play, block play, pretending and role play, drawing and painting, “reading” and “writing”, counting, sorting, etc. An active learning environment provides children with ongoing opportunities to make choices and decisions. Teachers rely on a problem-solving approach to deal with everyday classroom situations rather than a child-management system based on praise, punishment, and reward.īecause the learning environment has a strong impact on the behavior of the children and teachers, High/Scope places a strong emphasis on the planning of the layout of the classroom and selection of the materials. This interaction style enables children to express thoughts and feelings freely and confidently, decide the direction and content of the conversation and experience true partnership in dialogue. Teachers working with the High/Scope curriculum practiced positive interaction strategies-sharing control with children, focusing on children’s strengths, forming authentic relationships with children, supporting children’s play, and adopting a problem-solving approach to social conflicts. Young children act on their innate desire to explore they ask and search for answers to questions about people, materials, events, and ideas that arouse their curiosity they solve problems that stand in the way of their goals and they generate new strategies to try.Īctive learning depends on positive adult-child interactions. The power of active learning comes from personal initiative. Young children construct knowledge that helps them make sense of their world through active learning-having direct and immediate experiences and deriving meaning from them through reflection. Active Learning (which incorporates the Key Developmental Indicators(KDI’s)Īctive Learning is the core of the High/Scope Curriculum (see attached “Wheel of Learning”). The central principles of the High/Scope program are It was originally developed to serve at-risk kids but is now used in many settings that serve a full range of infants to preschool-aged children. High/Scope curriculum has been around since 1967.

Scrutinies catholic definition1/27/2024 During this period the Candidate will receive advanced theological education and practical diaconal formation. Candidacy is the first official recognition by Holy Mother Church that this man may very well have a vocation to Holy Orders. This general outline continues through the 3 years of Candidacy.Īdmission as a Candidate means that the Aspirant has been invited by the Bishop to enter a time of formal preparation for ordination that requires 3 years or more. By the time they are called to Candidacy, the formation team has a good sense of the character, spiritual development, intellectual capabilities, and family relationships of the men called forward.īeginning with the Aspirancy year the formation program consists of 1 weekend (Friday & Saturday) class per month, 1 5-week evening class per semester, a Discernment Circle meeting every 4-6 weeks, mandatory Spiritual Direction, a focused practicum experience and a yearly retreat. At the end of Aspirancy the couples are interviewed by a Scrutiny Committee and then some men are submitted to the Bishop for calling to Candidacy. Mentor, Associate Director and the Aspirant couple. A face-to-face meeting is held in the Spring between the Pastor, Dcn. Pastors and Deacon Mentors are asked to submit their own evaluations of each man. The focus of Aspirancy is the Social Teaching/Ministry of the Church with some basic philosophy to undergird it. Wives are strongly encouraged but not required to pray with them.ĭuring the second propaedeutic year, Aspirancy, the necessary objective evaluations are completed – psych evaluations (both husbands and wives), marriage evaluations, criminal and financial background checks, etc. The men are required to begin praying the Liturgy of the Hours as this year begins with the goal of the daily habit of Lauds and Vespers by the end of the year. The Days of Reflection focus on prayer, Lectio Divina, the spirituality of diaconal chastity/celibacy, Scripture, etc. There is a series of 7 one-day classes (Days of Reflection) and two retreats for this year. The focus during the Spirituality Year is year is on the Sacrament of Matrimony and the individual relationship with Christ for both husband and wife (if married). Oversight for post-ordination formation is with the Post-Ordination Formation Committee. After ordination, formation continues for an additional three years. The next three years of Candidacy focus on development of the knowledge and skills necessary for ordination. The first two years of formation (Spirituality Year and Aspirancy) are focused on spiritual growth and discernment of call. Two deacons or a diaconate couple will interview the prospective inquirers in their home and if no major impediments are found, will give the man an application. Those men who meet the requirements and sense a call to discernment are encouraged to contact the diaconate office for a personal interview. During the winter of the odd years a series of meetings are held around the diocese to give information to interested men and their wives about the requirements, the plan of formation, etc. New formation cohorts are developed in the odd-numbered years and ordination occurs in the even- numbered years. If a man has only completed the first year of this catechetical program, he must his Pastor’s permission to start formation and then finish Kino during the Spirituality Year. It is preferred that a man sensing a call to the diaconate (an Inquirer) complete the KINO program prior to applying for diaconate formation. The pre-requisite for entering formation is normally the two-year Kino Catechetical Institute combined Adult Faith Formation and Parish Leadership program. In each path, there are four dimensions or specific areas in formation – human, spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral.ĭirect formation for ordination to the diaconate normally takes five years. In the Diocese of Phoenix a fourth path, the Spirituality Year, was introduced after 2010. The National Directory for the Formation, Ministry and Life of Permanent Deacons in the United States says, “There are three separate but integral paths that constitute a unified diocesan formation program for deacons: aspirant, candidate and post-ordination.” While each path has a unique focus, they become “one sole organic journey in diaconal formation” (104).

Flexion type supracondylar fracture1/26/2024 Type 2 injuries treated in a cast often require surgery due to re-separation of the break and elbow malalignment. What is the long term outcome? Type 1 injuries heal very well in a cast. The pins get removed at 3 weeks (they can be pulled out in the office, this only hurts a little) and then the arm stays in a cast for more 3 weeks to ensure the bone heals completely. All Type 3 fractures require pins to hold the fracture in place because the broken piece is too unstable. The more severely broken fragment (measured by the humeral-capitellar angle), and the degree of medial sided bone collapse (called Baumanns angle) are risk factors for re-separation and encourage pin fixation. Doctors try to look for clues on x-ray to determine which of the Type 2 injuries will do well in a cast, and which need pins. To prevent this re-separation, two or three pins can be placed to hold the break together while it heals. However, its not uncommon for the broken elbow to be too unstable, and the break re-separates within the cast. Sometimes a doctor can gently push on the elbow to realign the elbow and then put the arm in a cast. Type 2 injuries are sometimes treated in a long-arm cast, but these oftentimes require surgery. Type 1 injuries heal without problems and they are placed into a long-arm cast for about 3 weeks, then regular activities gradually resume. Treatment is based on the Gartland Classification. Looking at the side view of the elbow on x-ray, the bone alignment is measured by drawing a line along the front of the humerus and seeing if it intersects the capitellum, see picture). To ensure normal elbow function, the arm needs to be straight. Treating a Supracondylar Fracture (Pediatric Broken Elbow)? Treatment depends on the severity of the injury, but regardless of the required treatment, all kids are expected to be able to resume all of their normal activities (only sometimes it takes a bit more work to get the bone to heal). About 10% of children with a supracondylar fracture will also have a broken wrist that requires treatment. Lastly, its important to check the whole arm for signs of additional breaks. This classification system helps to guide treatment. A Type 3 is bent really far backward and none of the bone remains in contact (its completely displaced). A Type 2 is bent backward, but part of the bone remains in contact (think of the bone as being hinged open). A Type 1 fracture is nondisplaced: the bone is broken, but the fragment didnt move out of position. Based on the severity of the break the injury is classified as a Gartland Type 1, 2, or 3. A Supracondylar fracture is best seen on a side view (because in a supracondylar fracture the arm bone bends backward). Based on this type of story doctors will be suspicious for this injury and will order X-rays of the elbow and forearm to diagnose the fracture. Kids will immediately report pain, swelling and inability to straighten the elbow. Most of these injuries occur after falling from a height (like falling off the bed, off the monkeybars, or off somewhere else a few feet off from the ground). Now that we know where this injury occurs, lets see how its diagnosed.ĭiagnosing a Supracondylar Fracture (Pediatric Broken Elbow)? The diagnosis of a Supracondylar Fracture is made by first listening to the history of a child's injury and their symptoms. A Flexion Type Supracondylar Fracture, where the elbow is hyper-bent forward, can occur but is only seen in 5% of cases. The pointy part of the elbow (called the olecranon, yes its a silly name) acts as a fulcrum and the humerus cracks over it. But in rare cases when there is too much force with the fall (like seen when falling off the monkeybars), our muscles that bend the elbow (called the biceps and brachialis) cannot absorb this big force so all the energy gets transmitted directly to the arm bone. The Extension Type occurs when a child completely straightens their arm to brace for a fall, which sounds normal enough, and in most cases nothing happens. Hyper-extension of the elbow causes an Extension Type supracondylar fracture (seen in 95% of cases).

Tryon little theatre1/26/2024 Very behind-the-scenes, live and great quality music was provided by seven local musicians, led by Pam McNeil. Choreographers Missy Fincher and Peggy Magarahan showcase a variety of talent from tap to soft shoe to all-cast shindids. Here, the multiple set designs by local artist Lindsey Moore capture the nostalgic sense of post-war Americana. Stage talent shines only as far as the production team’s ability to set the groundwork. As if to remind their children that true love endures, Abel and Melissa sing When I Go Out Walking With My Baby, further endearing Sawyer and Kocher’s on-stage marriage, only to be countered by Wayne and Emily’s harbinger song So Far. Now, both Wayne and Margy have met new but stated-plainly short-term love interests. At the fair, she is lead singer for The Fairtones, a quintet of female performers. Brother Wayne has met the feisty and somewhat mysterious Emily, played by Elizabeth Turner, who turns out to be a traveling wannabe Broadway star with a past. He’s a natural.īut Margy isn’t the only Frake to find a fling on the midway. He was last seen in the Tryon Little Theater production of Bright Star. The 22-year-old Spartanburg native spends his summers performing at a dinner theater in Alaska and his winters performing throughout the Southeast. This young man is the whole package, with a strong and sturdy singing voice, sure-footedness in the dance routines, and a stage confidence that comes from working his craft. This reviewer’s favorite actor of the show is Trey Westbrook, who played Pat Gilbert, a worldly newspaper reporter who tries (and succeeds) to sweep Margy off her feet. These salt-of-the-earth characters were led to sing in harmony after sharing family snapshots and coos of affection for… not their children or grandchildren but their hogs. But as far as the first big moments go, my hand goes to the barbershop quartet-like song More Than Just A Friend by Sawyer, Snart, Alex Tapp, and Zeke Smith. Upon arriving at the fair the next morning, son Wayne’s excitement is expressed in the song That’s For Me, giving Poteat the opportunity to shine as both an exuberant singer and dancer. The first true laughs in the show came as the Frakes drove through the night: As if they might have rhythmic ants in their pants, the family bounced through its singing of Driving At Night. Yet, as happy as they all are, hometown soothsayer Dave Miller, played by Ken Snart, predicted that something would go wrong during the Frakes’ trip, and bet Abel $5 that he would be proven right. With Blue Boy, the really big hog, in a cart and jars of pickles and mincemeat in hand, the Frakes head off to the fair with high hopes and dreams of romance yet to be dreamt. Both siblings welcome the yearly opportunity to experience the excitement of the state fair in Des Moines in 1946. Collins’s first solo, It Might As Well Be Spring, serves both as an example of the actress’s incredibly strong voice and the character’s simmering discontent. Margy has been a bit moody lately, not exactly sure she wants to marry Harry and longing for something more than the small-town life in America’s heartland. Margy, played by Maggie Collins, also has a love interest, Harry, played by Luke Laughter. But as young men’s eyes often do, they can wander. Wayne, played by the youthful Alexander Poteat, is the all-American boy with his eye on longtime sweetheart Eleanor, played by Ella Hardigree. Abel and Melissa are the epitome of a loving and enduring marriage, and the on-stage chemistry between Mark Sawyer and Susie Kocher strongly reinforces the notion that love can endure and conquer - even the budding passions of their children. The wholesome Frakes - father Abel, mother Melissa, and young adult children Margy and Wayne - are a farming family, the kind of people who raise prize-winning pigs and make prize-winning sour pickles and mincemeat. The story of the Frake family’s three-day holiday to the Iowa State Fair is rooted in the 1932 novel by Tom Briggs and Louis Mattioli. The community theatre company opened the play this past weekend at Tryon Fine Arts Center, and if the Saturday night performance is any indication of the community’s support for its own, this coming weekend, March 10-12, will be another blockbuster. State Fair is one of those timeless Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals that define an historic American era, and Tryon Little Theater should be given a blue ribbon for presenting it with such talent and heart.

Medina continued to make the case that Gaudi 2 has a significantly lower price to the H100, and so it has an advantage on a combined metric of price and performance. GPT-3 was the only benchmark FP8 enabled for this round, but Medina says his team is working on switching it on for others now. On the new image-generation benchmark, Gaudi 2 was also about half the H100’s speed. That new result puts the Gaudi 2 system at a little less than one-third the speed of an Nvidia system on a per-chip basis and three times as fast as Google’s TPUv5e. “We delivered more than what was promised-a 103 percent reduction in time-to-train for a 384-accelerator cluster.” “We projected a 90 percent gain” from switching on FP8, says Eitan Medina, chief operating officer at Intel’s Habana Labs. The use of FP8 in parts of GPT-3 and other transformer neural networks where their low precision won’t affect accuracy has already showed its value in Nvidia’s H100 results. The use of lower precision numbers, such as FP8, has been responsible for most of the improvement in GPU performance in last 10 years. The big change from the last set of training benchmarks was that the company had enabled Gaudi 2’s 8-bit floating-point (FP8) capabilities. Intel submitted results for systems using the Gaudi 2 accelerator chip and for those that had no accelerator at all, relying on only its fourth-generation Xeon CPU. A computer of more reasonable size-512 H100s-would take four months. Extrapolating from Eos’s 4 minutes means it would take eight days to complete the training, and that’s on what might be the most powerful AI supercomputer yet built. Instead, it involves training the system to a certain checkpoint that proves the training would have reached the needed accuracy given enough time. The GPT-3 benchmark Eos tackled is not a complete training of GPT-3, because MLPerf wanted it to be within reach of many companies. Efficient scaling is key to continued improvement of generative AI, which has been growing tenfold every year. That threefold increase achieved a 2.8-fold performance improvement, or 93 percent scaling efficiency. Eos triples the number of H100 GPUs that have been bound into a single machine. |
